You can call me Jo!

Hi! I’m Johanna but my friends call me Jo. Thanks for visiting For The Love Of Jo. I’m so glad you’re here! I am a Land of 10,000 Lakes, MinneSnowta native. I am a full-time goal getter who’s always in the middle of planning my next adventure. At one point in my life I thought adventure only meant traveling. Now I have realized everyday life can make for an extraordinary adventure.
Here’s my story:
My love for travel began at a young age. My mom’s side of the family was from Minnesota and my dad’s side was from Illinois. Every summer, we would visit relatives in Illinois. From the Wisconsin cheese curds to catching lightning bugs in my grandma’s backyard, I truly loved every minute of that time on the road. I experienced my first international travel at the age of 15 when my best friend convinced me to go to France for three weeks. It was at that point I decided I wanted to backpack through Europe, and in 2013, I was able to visit the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Czech Republic, and Belgium. I will forever remember that trip as being historically delicious!
The following summer, I was driving back to visit my Illinois family. There is this spot on I-94 where I get to the top of a hill and the road curves and all l can see is gorgeous greenery for miles. It takes my breath away every time. It was in that moment I knew I needed to see more of what my own country had to offer. During July 2016, I departed on a year-long USA road trip. Exciting? Yes! The problem? After a few months, my heart kept calling me home. At first, I didn’t understand how my heart could betray me like this. I told everyone I would be traveling for an entire year, but five months later I was home. That’s when I realized half the fun of going on a trip are my experiences that get me there. Without the goal of traveling, I would have never counted night crawlers at the age of 10 to earn spending money for Disneyland. I would have never lost my sandals in a foot of mud while corn detasseling with my best friend to earn money to go on a road trip to Chicago. I would have never started a second job and became a local pie-baking celebrity to pay for my backpacking trip through Europe. Living on the road isn’t for everyone, and it definitely wasn’t for me. It was then I realized that I could discover, create, and accomplish adventure in my everyday life as well.
I hope this blog gives you an amazing gut-wrenchingly deep belly laugh. I hope it creates a desire to think outside the box to discover your dreams. I hope it inspires you to see adventure on and off the road. Dig in and enjoy!
XOXO
Jo
